Hi,
I'm GM Noël Studer

I played my first rated chess game in 2006, only 10 years of age. Ever since I was hooked with this beautiful game and always tried to find new ways to improve my skills.

After finishing high school in 2015, I embarked on a six-year journey as a professional chess player, during which I had the honor of working with some of the world’s best coaches, such as Jacob Aagaard, Ramesh RB, Artur Yusupov, and Iossif Dorfman.

Even a Traumatic Brain Injury in 2017 couldn’t stop me from living my dream.

In 2021, I began sharing my experiences and insights at NextLevelChess.blog,

eventually falling in love with writing and coaching so much that I shifted my focus to these pursuits full-time in August 2021

How My Work Will Benefit You

As an advocate for simplicity, I strive to answer the question, “How can we get better at chess?” while also making the game more enjoyable and less stressful for my readers.

My writing covers key areas of chess improvement:

In each area, I offer straightforward, actionable ideas that you can easily integrate into your daily life.

Most of the concepts I write about aren’t my own. These are ideas I learned from some of the greatest thinkers of the past and present. I also look for insights from many other fields: economics, history, philosophy and Sports.

I don’t have all the answers to chess improvement, and never will have. But

my methods have already helped thousands of chess improvers so far

and I’m happy to keep sharing what I discover next. Whether you’re a beginner or a chess master, I hope you’ll find my work valuable.
